- Rolling shot about on the lower deck, and other discordant noises, when seamen are discontented, but without being mutinous.
- This is sailing navy slang for the noise made when discontented, but not yet mutinous, seaman expressed their unhappiness by rolling cannonballs around the gundecks and making other discordant noises.
