- Said of an aerial or marine propeller that does not change its pitch. this can be more efficient than variable pitch, but only at the speed (rpm), horsepower, and load condition for which it was specifically designed. in those conditions, the propeller can utilize all the power the propulsion system can produce, otherwise it cannot. also uniform pitch.
