Hatch davit

    A small portable hoist used when working with light cargo inside a hold. hatch-deck: the lower deck of a gun brig.

  1. 1. a spar formerly used on board ships as a crane to hoist the flukes of the anchor to the top of the bow, without injuring the sides of the ship.

  5. A device that projects beyond the side of the boat to raise objects from the water. typically a single davit is used on the bow of a vessel to raise an anchor, and a pair are used on the side or stern of the vessel to raise a dinghy.
