Launch seal

Глоссарий по проходческим щитам (тоннелингу)
  1. A mechanical seal, usually consisting of a rubber flange that is mounted to the wall of the jacking shaft. the flange seal is distended by the mtbm as the machine passes through the shaft. the seal is intended to prevent the flow of groundwater, soils, slurry, and lubrication into the shaft during tunneling operations.

  2. A mechanical seal, usually composed of a rubber flange that is mounted to the wall of the drive shaft. the flange seal is distended by the mtbm as it passes through, creating a seal to prevent water or lubrication inflow into the shaft during tunneling operations.

Launch, английский
  1. Пуск, запуск; старт

  2. Station, augmented пусковая установка для запуска двух или более ракет

  3. 1. traditionally, a launch was the largest ship`s boat carried by a warship.

  4. Катер, барказ, моторная лодка; спуск судна

  5. The largest or long boat of a ship of war. others of greater size for gunboats are used by the french, spaniards, italians, &c., in the mediterranean. a launch being proportionably longer, lower, and more flat-bottomed than the merchantman`s long-boat, is in consequence less fit for sailing, but better calculated for rowing and approaching a flat shore. its principal superiority consists in being much fitter to under-run the cable, lay out anchors, &c., which is a very necessary employment in the harbours of the levant, where the cables of different ships are fastened across each other, and frequently render such operations necessary.

  6. [1] a large, powered, open boat. [2] the largest pulling or sailing boat of a man-o-war (called the longboat in merchant service). [3] to set a small boat in the water. [4] to float a newly-constructed vessel, usually by sliding it down a slope or slipway. [5] to fire a rocket or torpedo. [6] to catapult an aircraft off a flight deck. [7] to commence a project or expedition. the first two come from the portuguese

  7. (1) to place a boat in the water; (2) a small boat used to ferry people to and from a larger vessel.

  8. The activities leading up to and through a product’s release into the marketplace.

  9. To activate an application program (especially on the macintosh) from the operating system’s user interface.

  10. To activate an application program from the operating system’s user interface.

Mechanical, английский

Groundwater, английский
  1. Water within the earth that supplies wells and springs.

  2. Water from an aquifer or subsurface water source.

  3. Water stored beneath the surface in open pore spaces and fractures in rock.

  4. Water beneath the earth`s surface in the spaces between soil particles and between rock surfaces [compare with surface water].

  5. Water, near the surface of the ground, which passes through the subsoil.

  6. Грунтовые воды; подземные воды

  7. Water found underground as a result of rainfall, ice and snow melt, submerged rivers, lakes, and springs. this water often carries minerals. these minerals can accumulate in the remains of buried organisms and eventually cause fossilization.

  8. All subsurface water, as distinct from water on the surface.

  9. Water that seeps through soil and fills pores of underground rock formations; the source of water in springs and wells.

Lubrication, английский
  1. The control of friction and wear by the introduction of a friction-reducing film between moving surfaces in contact. the lubricant used can be a fluid, solid, or plastic substance.

  2. Смазка

  3. On no account should oil be used to lubricate pin-tumbler cylinders. graphite is the conventional lubricant for this mechanism.

  4. Смазка (действие)

  5. The act of injecting a fluid, normally bentonite and/or polymers, to reduce the skin friction and jacking forces on the jacking pipe during installation. the fluid fills the annular space.

  7. The control of friction and wear between two moving, touching surfaces by placing a friction-reducing substance between them.

  8. Control of friction and wear by the introduction of a friction reducing film between moving surfaces in contact. the film may be fluid, solid or plastic.

  9. Reduction of friction or wear between two load-bearing surfaces by the application of a lubricant; includes boundary lubrication (thin or interrupted fluid film, especially bearings where wear occurs); mixed film, where some liquid pools support the load; elastohydrodynamic (high-pressure loads increase the lubricant’s viscosity and load-carrying capacity, especially in gears); hydrodynamic (a thick fluid film lubrication, especially in journal bearings) and hydrostatic (external pump pressure used to form a thick fluid film, as in start-up of journal bearings).
