- Слово заимствовано из греческого языка — ?λ?βαστρος, означает сразу два термина: «гипс» и «кальцит». материалы различаются по степени твердости поверхности по шкале мооса. показатель гипса равен 2, то есть его можно поцарапать, проведя по поверхности ногтем. кальцит более твердый — его показатель 3, но поддается при воздействии металлического острия, например, ножа. на гипс не оказывает никакого действия соляная кислота, но кальцит, являясь карбонатом, растворяется в ней.
