Cluster resource

A internal entity that can be owned by a windows server failover clustering (wsfc) node, brought online and taken offline, moved between nodes, and managed as a cluster object. a cluster resource can be owned by only a single node at any point in time.

Cluster, английский

  3. 1. a group of small items which cling together 2. a significant subset in a statistical sample, e.g. of numbers of people affected by a particular disease or condition

  9. A group of independent computers that work together to provide a common set of services and present a single-system image to clients. the use of a cluster enhances the availability of the services and the scalability and manageability of the operating system that provides the services.

  10. A group of warehouse-related work items of the same type, based on userdefined criteria (such as location and inventory number). cluster

  11. The smallest amount of disk space that can be allocated to hold a file.

  12. Arrangement of microbial cells in a group

Cluster adapter, английский
The adapter that, when using multiple network adapters in each host of a network load balancing cluster, handles the network traffic for cluster operations (the traffic for all hosts in the cluster). this adapter is programmed with the host’s cluster ip address.

Cluster analysis, английский

  2. A statistical technique that identifies clusters of stocks whose returns are highly correlated within each cluster and relatively uncorrelated across clusters. cluster analysis has identified groupings such as growth, cyclical, stable, and energy stocks.

Cluster architecture, английский

Cluster bomb unit, английский

Cluster combustior, английский

Cluster computer, английский
Also known as a cluster is a supercomputer made up of many smaller computers such as pcs connected with very fast network hardware.

Cluster configuration storage location, английский
The shared location (or shared storage location) where cluster configuration information is persisted. it can be a shared file or a database.

Cluster continuous replication, английский
A replication that combines the asynchronous log shipping and replay features built into exchange 2007 with the failover and management features provided by a failover cluster that is created with the microsoft windows cluster service.

Cluster housing, английский
Dwellings grouped closely together to form relatively compact units. the space between clusters usually is allocated to pedestrian circulation and cooperative recreational use. this pattern normally results in a higher density of land use than that of a conventional subdivision layout.

Cluster housing., английский

Cluster interconnect,

Cluster investigation, английский
A review of an unusual number, real or perceived, of health events (for example, reports of cancer) grouped together in time and location. cluster investigations are designed to confirm case reports; determine whether they represent an unusual disease occurrence; and, if possible, explore possible causes and contributing environmental factors.

Clustering, английский
  1. The tendency e.g. of laser-active ions in laser gain media to form clusters in their host medium

  3. Clustering is a technique used in data mining, online analytical processing (olap), and similar activities to group observations. a clustering procedure attempts to identify and extract "similar" groups of observations from a data set. unlike classification procedures, the number and memberships in the groups are not known a priori. the observations are grouped on the same set of attributes as is used to assess their homogeneity. in contrast, classification and regression techniques use one group of variables to obtain homogeneity on a second set. the clustering process can either be agglomerative, where each record starts as its own cluster and is merged with other clusters, or divisive, where all the data starts in a single large cluster and is gradually broken down into smaller, more homogeneous clusters. while the clustering is often of interest in its own right, it can also be used to pick out interesting subgroups for further analysis. the clusters can be disjoint, so that each observation falls in one and only one cluster, hierarchical, where the higher level clusters are further split into sub-clusters recursively, or overlapping, so that an individual data point can have membership into more than one cluster. see also: classification procedures, data mining, knowledge discovery in databases, regression.

  4. A data mining technique that analyzes data to group records together according to their location within the multidimensional attribute space.

  5. The grouping of multiple servers in a way that allows them to appear to be a single unit to client computers on a network. clustering is a means of increasing network capacity, providing live backup in case one of the servers fails, and improving data security.

Javabean, английский
A java component architecture defined in the javabeans specification developed by sun microsystems. a javabean, or bean, is a reusable application component—an independent code segment—that can be combined with other javabean components to create a java applet or application. the javabean concept emphasizes the platform-independence of the java language, in which ideally a program, once written, can run on any computing platform. javabeans are similar to microsoft’s activex controls. activex controls, however, can be developed in different programming languages but executed only on a windows platform. javabeans can be developed only in the java programming language but ideally can run on any platform.

Soft hyphen, английский
A hyphen that is used to control where a word or phrase breaks if it falls at the end of a line. for example, you can specify that the word nonprinting’ breaks as ‘non-printing’ rather than ‘nonprint-ing.”
