  6. Contact with a substance by swallowing, breathing, or touching the skin or eyes. exposure may be short-term [acute exposure], of intermediate duration, or long-term [chronic exposure].

  7. The amount of light that reaches the image sensor and is controlled by a combination of the lens aperture and shutter speed.

  8. The result of light that reaches any recording surface through the combination of time (shutter speed) and quantity (lens diaphragm size).

  9. Exposure is the phenomenon of light striking the surface of film or a digital imaging sensor. the exposure is determined by the volume of light passing through the lens aperture (f/stop) combined with the duration of the exposure (shutter speed). for more on this subject, see the explora article, “understanding aperture.”

  10. The amount of light that enters the lens and strikes the film or sensor. exposures are broken down into aperture, which is the diameter of the opening of the lens, and shutter speed, which is the amount of time the light strikes the film. thus, exposure is a combination of the intensity and duration of light.

  11. The total amount of light reaching the digital sensor. it is controlled by setting the aperture, shutter speed and iso. discover how these 3 elements work together in our article on the exposure triangle.

  12. Amount of light that hits the image sensor of film controlled by the shutter speed and aperture.

Exposure (rt), английский
The product of the x-ray intensity as measured by filament current in milliamperes and time in seconds or minutes for x-rays, or the product of source strength in curies and time in seconds or minutes for gamma rays. the exposure factor determines the degree of film blackening as long as the reciprocity law is valid. see reciprocity law and reciprocity law failure.

Exposure assessment, английский

Exposure bias, английский
A control on most digital cameras that lets you control the under -or over- exposure of the image.

Exposure bias compensation, английский
A control on most digital cameras that lets you control the under -or over- exposure of the image.

Exposure bracketing, английский
  1. The camera automatically takes a series of 3 or 5 pictures and slightly varies the ev for each frame. this insures that at least one of the pictures will be as close to perfectly exposed as possible.

  2. Camera will take 3 or 5 images and varies the exposure up or down for each photograph ensuring at least one will be well exposed.

  3. A photographic technique of taking multiple photos of the same scene with different exposure settings.

Exposure chart, английский

Exposure chart (rt), английский

Exposure coefficient:, английский

Exposure compensation, английский
  1. Lighten or darken the image by overriding the exposure system. also known as ev compensation.

  2. Adding to or subtracting from the “correct” exposure time indicated by the camera`s light meter, which results in a final exposure that is either lighter or darker than the recommended exposure time. most cameras allow for exposure compensation in 1/2, 1/3, or full-stop increments. note that the “correct” exposure is not necessarily the “best” exposure.

  3. Modifying the shutter speed or aperture from the camera’s recommended exposure to create a certain effect (over or under exposing)

  4. You can lighten or darken the image by under or over exposing the image. (ev compensation).

  5. A control on most digital cameras that lets you control the under -or over- exposure of the image.

Exposure device (rt), английский
A shield in the form of a package designed to contain and allow the controlled use of one or more sealed sources for the purpose of making radiographic exposures.

Exposure diversification, английский
    Диверсификация рисков

Exposure dose, английский

Exposure factor, английский
In x-ray radiologic testing, the quantity that combines source intensity (milliampere), time (usually minute), and distance. it is the product of milliamperage and time divided by distance squared and determines the degree of film density. f

Probability, английский
  1. Probability can be generally defined as a measure of how likely some event will occur. the event could be an explosion, a lottery win or perhaps cancer induction. mathematically speaking, the value of probability varies between 0 and 1 where 0 means an ev

  2. Вероятность. возможность.

  3. The probability of an event is a number between zero and 100%. the meaning (interpretation) of probability is the subject of theories of probability, which differ in their interpretations. however, any rule for assigning probabilities to events has to satisfy the axioms of probability.

  4. Вероятность

  5. Вероятность probability sample, syn. random sample

  9. Probability is a method for representing uncertainty about propositions or events. it represents the uncertainty about a proposition on a scale from 0 to 1, with a 0 representing complete certainty that the proposition is false or an event will not occur and a value of one will represent the opposite. formally, a probability measure is one that follows kolmogorov`s axioms. there are two main schools of thought on the meaning of probability. frequentists take a narrow interpretation of probability allowing only hypothetically repeatable events or experiments as being quantifiable by probability, while bayesians take a broader interpretation that allows reasoning about "one-shot" events and propositions based on the current knowledge about nature. the bayesian interpretation is most commonly used in artificial intelligence, while the frequentist interpretation is most commonly taught in statistics courses. the label "bayesian" arises from the central role that the bayes theorem plays in this use of probability. it allows one to reason from effects to causes and encourages the use of probability measures to describe supposedly fixed events or propositions which frequentists disallow. the probability for these events reflects one`s state of knowledge about the event, rather than being an assertion that the unknown event can vary. for example, a bayesian would have no qualms about making statements about the probability that a given die, rolled and hidden from his sight is, for example, a six. a frequentist would be unable to make such a statement, preferring to talk about his confidence in the method when applied to a hypothetically large number of repeated experiments. in the end, they would act in similar ways. when the long run data are available, bayesians and frequentists end up with the same estimates. see also: bayes theorem, kolmogorov`s axioms.

  11. The likelihood of something happening. for example, sale being made.

  13. The relative likelihood of a particular outcome among all possible outcomes.

  14. Likelihood that an event may occur, expressed as a number between 0 and 1.
