  1. Term referring to lakes, streams, rivers, canals, waterways, inlets, bays and the like.

  2. Unless otherwise specified by local ordinances, inland waters are those which lie shoreward of a line drawn through the outermost buoy, lighthouse, or other aid to navigation. not to be confused with internal or territorial waters.
